Nice run last night with Eric and Heath

Eric Henricks and Heath Kirkpatrick gave TRG a call yesterday to run at Fort Harrison. It was nice to relive our successful PA sprint race with Eric. Nancy Gawrys and I (Doug Theis) enjoyed hanging with the two members of Team Friends. Now Eric is a TRG member!

Night Hike was Fantastic!

A total of fifteen people showed up for our annual night hike on midnight, Feb 26. The weather was cool and dry and the 28 miles (thought it was 26) were a great tester. Congratulations to the new folks who made it out and tgot some exercise with us.

Training Update

TRG has been preparing for the Planet Adeventure, the 30 hour race in May. We did the ICO 6 hour ROGAINE (Orienteering Meet) on April 5 and won first in the coed division. Great job team! It was great to see our many AR friends from around Indiana at the event. We hope to see you down at the Hoosier National Forest and at the mini as we all prepare for the race.

Night Hike on the Tecumseh

TRG along with Mike Boyer, one of Steve and Bob’s mountaineering friends, hiked 26 miles on the Tecumseh Trail from midnight to 11am on March 6. The moon was bright, the conversation was funny and the hip flexors were sore. As always, the dawn brought us back to life, and we had a fine meal afterwards at Forkey’s in Martinsville.

Training Update

April 7, 2002 – We continue to prepare for Planet Adventure, now just two weeks away. Doug, Steve, Bob and Leslie spent a day in the Hoosier National Forest. We spent the time scouting, orienteering as a team in an IndyO meet, and mountain biking. Scouting helped us with some race planning. The O-meet was at the Story course and helped us with some specific nav skills and helped build our confidence. Thanks to the Indy Crossroads Orienteering Club for hosting the meet. The biking put some fire in our thighs and a nice mud stripe up each of our backs. We had big fun.

Feb 10, 2002 – TRG went on an all night hike at Morgan Monroe State Forest on Friday, February 8. Leslie, Steve, Doug and Bob hiked 21 miles in nine hours, then worked on the fixed orienteering course until dawn. The night was clear and it was great fun. Paddling, off-road biking, scootering and skating will be our areas of concentration in the next few weeks.
