Team
The original Team Ragged Glory, founded in March of 2001, was Doug Theis, Leslie Shafer (Thompson), and Steve Kincade. It’s a good thing we didn’t know what we were getting into when we signed up for the Planet Adventure 30 Hour Challenge.

How We Met
Team Ragged Glory’s roots are friendships developed through running and working together.
Doug met Steve at Methodist Hospital in Indy where they worked and ran together for many years. Doug met Leslie because their employers shared an office space. Doug and Leslie trained for and participated in the second Iron Horse Adventure Challege at Logansport in 1999. Doug introduced Leslie and Steve to each other at the 1999 Indy Fall Marathon, which was Leslie’s first half marathon and Steve’s first full marathon.
Steve and Bob Mueller grew up together and have had many outdoor adventures including climbing Mount Rainier.
Julie, a former Taylor University marathoner, advertised on the teambuilder site to race PA03 and Leslie called Julie to sub for her.
Doug heard about Nancy Gawrys from a gym buddy; Nancy graduated from Warren Central in Indy the same year as Teresa, Doug’s wife.
Greg and Doug have been running together weekly since the first Planet Adventure.
Greg suggested Dave Tanner as a teammate for the 2004 Nationals; Dave had raced some of the previous PAs as well as having done virtually every endurance event known to man.
Beth Thomas works with Steve.
Yngvar was a training buddy first, then a teammate.
Becca is a friend of Mindy, Steve’s wife.
